About

In a world where the sports pages are filled as much with scandal, drug abuse, business issues, out of control fans, and spoiled millionaires as they are with actual athletic accomplishments I think that Special Olympics and similar organizations represent a much purer sports experience. I hope that this site will be a positive antidote to many of the negative sports experiences that we usually see. So my primary purpose with the site is to provide a good read to anyone that stumbles upon this site.

A secondary purpose of the site is to promote these athletes and provide resources for anyone that might want to get involved as an athlete, coach, volunteer, or donor. There are many overlapping organizations that might be of interest. Many more than I know about and I hope to learn about them through the stories that their participants might submit. The site has a page of organizations as a starting point so that you can follow up if you become interested by one of the stories.

Another purpose of the site is to provide pointers to stories about athletes with disabilities in the mainstream media. If, like me, you are interested in the real athletes then you are likely interested in how they are portrayed in movies, television shows, books, albums, and news stories. These are cataloged in the media section of the website.

If you have any suggestions for this website please go to the contact page and send me a message. And, if you have a story, please submit it on that page so that we can all share our experiences.
